How to Make a Mini Christmas Wreath

A wreath is an assortment of flowers, leaves, fruits, twigs and/or various materials, in a round framework.
They are used typically as Christmas decorations to symbolize the arrival of Christ, also known as the Advent season in Christianity.
They are even employed as festive or wedding headdresses in ceremonial events in many cultures, traditions, and religions across the globe.
The circular shape of the wreath is said to symbolize eternity.
To cut the long story short, what is Christmas without wreaths! This piece deals with making a mini Christmas wreath, which is often a fun activity in the holiday season.
Things required: • Scissors • Fabric remnants (plain or patterned): choose colors that go well together or traditional Christmas colors, such as red, green, & white • Polystyrene wreath - can be bought from any good craft stores • Ribbon • Fishing nylon Steps to make mini Christmas wreath: • Preparing the Fabric for Christmas wreaths: * Select fabrics in the required shades.
* Tear them into strips about 2 inches (5cm) wide.
To start the tear, make a small cut with scissors.
From here, you can tear the fabric off easily.
* Cut the strips of 18 inches (46 cm) length.
* The amount of fabric strips required depends on the size of the wreath.
• Making the Christmas wreath: * Tie strips of fabric around the polystyrene wreath, knotting it firmly and pulling the fabric into a bow shape.
* Tie each strip higher or lower than the preceding one so that they are staggered and not all knotted at the same level.
Leave the back of the wreath free of knots.
* It will take some time to cover the Christmas wreath.
When it is covered, check for any holes where the polystyrene may be showing through.
Add more knotted fabric here, if needed.
* Trim the fabric ends to the same length so that the wreath looks tidy.
* Trim away any frayed strands.
* Choose a Christmas ribbon to match or contrast the wreath, as needed.
* Tie the bow with the ribbon, allowing its ends to drape at the bottom of the wreath.

Try using natural fibers such as hessian to give a natural look.
Add small pinecones, dried flowers, and artificial berries.

Use floral fabrics for a pretty Christmas craft effect.

Employ tulle for a more dramatic, fuller look.
Wind thin ribbons in and around it.
