How to Combine GPX Files
- 1). Right-click on one of the GPX files you wish to combine. Select "Open With" in the contextual menu and choose "Notepad." Repeat this step with the second GPX file.
- 2). Click on the Notepad window with the first GPX file. Click the "File" menu and choose "Save As." Name the new file "Combined" or something similar to distinguish it as the file that contains all of the information. Choose "All files" as the file type and "Unicode" as the encoding format. Click the "Save" button.
- 3). Scroll through the Notepad document and locate the text "<GPX>" (without the quotes). It is usually on the first line of the document. Scroll through the document and locate "</GPX>" (without the quotes). It is usually on the last line of the document.
- 4). Hold down the left mouse button and drag to highlight all of the text between the ">" character of "<GPX>" and the "<" character of "</GPX>."
- 5). Click the "Edit" menu and select "Copy."
- 6). Click on the Notepad window with the file you named "Combined" or similar. Click on the space just before the "<" character of "</GPX>" on the last line of the document. Press the "Enter" key on your keyboard to make a new line.
- 7). Click the "Edit" menu and select "Paste." Repeat the copy and paste procedure for each GPX file you wish to combine. Choose "Save" from the "File" menu when all of the GPX file contents have been copied to the "Combined" file.
