How to Change the Printing Cartridge in an Epson Stylus 820
- 1). Turn on your Epson Stylus 820 printer if it's not already on. Lower the print media output tray. Lift up the top cover to access the printer interior.
- 2). Push the "Ink Cartridge Replacement" button to move the ink cartridge carrier to the center of the printer interior.
- 3). Check which cartridge you must replace by looking at the Power and Error status lights: Replace both cartridges if the Error light turned on without flashing; replace black if both lights flash at the same rate; or replace color if the Error light flashes faster than the Power light.
- 4). Press the lock lever tab at the front of the cartridge that you need to replace to release the ink cartridge cover. Lift up the cover. Pull the cartridge from its slot, and set it aside for disposal.
- 5). Remove the new Epson replacement ink cartridge from its packaging, and then remove the yellow tape from the cartridge without touching the green chip.
- 6). Insert the new cartridge into the empty slot. Flip the cover over the cartridge and push down on it until you feel it lock and secure the cartridge in the slot.
- 7). Repeat the replacement process with the other ink cartridge if necessary. When finished, lower the top cover, and push the "Ink Cartridge Replacement" button again.
- 8). Wait approximately 30 seconds for the ink to charge and the Error light to turn off. If you changed the ink cartridge without any errors, the Power light should remain on without flashing. Begin printing as desired.
