    • 1). Plug in the power cord at the back of the heater, and check the circuit breaker to make sure the heater circuit hasn't tripped.

    • 2). Detach the heater's gas hose from the propane tank, using pliers, so you can lift the tank with the weigh scale. If the tank is empty, connect a full cylinder to the gas hose.

    • 3). Push and turn the Reddy's control knob to release gas to the pilot. If you cannot hear or smell propane, keep troubleshooting.

    • 4). Clean the pilot tube of obstructions, using the sharp end of a metal pin. The pilot tube is the bright metal tube that faces toward the front of the heater. Force compressed air from a can into the pilot to help clear the tube.

    • 5). Press the Reddy's control knob, and push the red ignition button on the front panel next to the knob. On portable space heaters, you may need to push the ignition button repeatedly to start the appliance. If it still will not start, the electric ignition component may be broken and needs replacement. Have the Reddy heater checked out by a trained appliance repairman.
