    • 1). Remove the air filter assembly from the engine compartment using the flat screwdriver. Use your hands to lift out the air filter assembly and the tubing connecting it to the throttle body, and place it to the side.

    • 2). Remove the negative terminal on the battery using an open-end wrench. Remove the positive terminal on the battery using the same technique.

    • 3). Locate the starter motor on the transmission. The starter will have an electrical harness plugged into it as well as a thick battery cable bolted to the motor. Remove the connections using an open-end wrench.

    • 4). Unbolt the starter from the transmission using the 3/8-inch ratchet, extension and sockets. Lift it out of the engine compartment and set it to the side.
