Painting your Vinyl Window Frames

• 1). Mix the vinyl cleaning solution into a bucket with water as per the instructions on the bottle.
  
  
• 2). Clean the window frames thoroughly with a sponge and the cleaning solution. Be sure to wear latex gloves to protect your hands from the cleaning solvent.
  
  
• 3). Towel dry the frames when you are done cleaning them to prevent debris from settling into the wet cleaning solution.
  
  
• 4). Remove the latex gloves and put on leather work gloves.
  
  
• 5). Fill in any deep scratches with vinyl patching compound and allow the compound to dry.
  
  
• 6). Remove surface scratches from the vinyl window frames by gently working them out with fine grade sandpaper. Wear safety goggles at all times to prevent debris from getting into your eyes. Do not rub too hard as you do not want to leave patches that may show up after you paint.
  
  
• 7). Protect the windows and siding of the house by using masking tape around the frame.
  
  
• 8). Apply the primer to the frames and then allow the primer to dry.
  
  
• 9). Apply the paint to the frames and remove the masking tape while the paint is still wet; if you don't, the paint layer will dry onto the tape, making removal difficult and messy (it also may remove paint from the window frames).
