How Long Should I Stay in an Infrared Sauna?
- The ideal amount of time to spend in an infrared sauna is 20 minutes. This is enough time give your body the full benefit of the experience.
- Staying in a sauna for longer than 20 minutes increases the risk of dehydration and skin damage. Always drink water before and after using the sauna to stay hydrated, and apply a moisturizer afterward.
- If you have silicone breast implants or another silicone prosthesis or are taking medication, consult a physician before using an infrared sauna. The heat may warm the silicone and cause discomfort, and certain medicines make you more prone to heat stroke.
- Pregnant women and the elderly should avoid using any sauna. People who have a fever, have consumed alcohol, suffer from hemophilia or have a joint injury are also advised not to use them.
