How to Survive in a Corset

    • 1). Ask someone to take your measurements before you purchase a corset. Before your measurements are taken, tie a string around your waist just above your belly button. This will be used as a marker when your measurements are taken. Make sure measurements are taken very close to the skin. If you must be clothed, make sure that you're wearing very thin clothing. For a complete description of all of the measurements that you need to take, visit the Isabella Costumiere website.

    • 2). Purchase a custom made corset. These are specifically made to fit your body. The corset will fit comfortably at your hips and ribs, and simply press gently on your waist. You will be able to breath easily in this corset.

    • 3). Lace the corset loosely the first few times you wear it. This will allow it to shape itself to fit the curves of your body. If your corset fits properly it will be comfortable.

    • 4). Powder the skin under your corset before you put it on. This will help to protect you from chafing caused by the corset rubbing against your skin. A camisole, leotard or any other garment of this nature will also serve the same purpose.

    • 5). Wear a tube top around your waist to add a layer of privacy to the garment. This will conceal everything both under and over the corset.
