    • 1). Remove the strings. Turn and loosen all the tuning knobs until your strings are slackened. Uncoil and remove the strings from the tuning heads.

    • 2). Unscrew the screws that secure your pickup cover, if you have one, with a screwdriver. Remove the cover.

    • 3). Desolder the original pickup wires from the controls. The pickup wires connect to the volume and tone controls on your guitar. Plug in your soldering gun, and let it heat up for a few minutes. Use the soldering gun to melt the solder on the original wire connections. Use the solder pump to suck up the melted solder. Apply the tip of the soldering gun to the solder on the wire and melt it. Suck up the solder with the pump.

    • 4). Remove the original pickup. Take the original pickup out of your guitar, and place your new pickup into the pickup cavity.

    • 5). Solder the new pickup wires to the volume and tone knobs. The black wire on your pickup connects to the volume knob, and the white wire connects to the tone knob. Solder the black and white wires to the corresponding places with the soldering gun and fresh solder.

    • 6). Test your pickup. Re-attach the pickup cover, if necessary, with the previous screws and a screwdriver. Re-string your guitar. Plug your guitar into an amplifier and play it.
