    Audio headphones

    • 1). Bose's audio headphones come in three different styles: in ear headphones, classic around the ear headphones and compact on ear headphones.

    • 2). All audio headphones come with connectors to attach to your audio player. Some audio players may require a separate adapter.

    • 3). The most common problem encountered with using audio headphones is a lack of sound. If both ends of the cable are firmly connected, test to make sure that the audio player works with other headphones or speakers. If you experience distorted bass with around the ear headphones, check to make sure both ear cushions are firmly attached. If a cushion becomes misshaped, leaving it in a neutral position should allow it to return to its normal shape.

    Noise cancelling headphones

    • 1). Noise cancelling headphones are labeled for left and right ears. Headphones should be worn so that they completely cover the ears. It is recommended that any jewelry that interferes with the proper fit of the earphones be removed.

    • 2). Noise cancelling headphones come with high and low volume settings that are used only when listening to audio. If the headphones are being used for noise cancelling purposes, only the headphones should be switched to high and not connected to an audio player. If listening to audio, put on the low setting and adjust as necessary.

    • 3). Headphones should be kept clean with a damp, clean cloth. Blowing air into or vacuuming the earpieces may cause damage. Users should also avoid the use of any liquid cleaners.

    • 4). The most common problems with noise cancelling headphones are usually due to low or dead batteries. If the noise reduction is not working it is due to no power to the headset most likely because of dead batteries. Likewise a crackling sound is a sign that the batteries are running low. A low rumbling sound may indicate that the headphones are not fitted properly over the ears or that audio ports are blocked and need to be cleaned.

    Aviation headphones

    • 1). Bose presently manufactures the A20 Aviation Headset, a noise cancelling headset with audio capability and auxiliary audio available for connecting to GPS or other devices.

    • 2). Aviation headsets are specially designed to cancel more noise than traditional noise cancelling headphones, and are designed to meet or exceed Federal Aviation Administration regulations. Standard noise cancelling headphones should never be used in place of an aviation headset.

    • 3). With all models of aviation headphones, Bose recommends that users contact them directly for malfunctioning headsets or questions about proper use.
