    • 1). Click the Windows "Start" button and click "Control Panel." At the top, right text box, type "recovery" and press "Enter." This displays your recovery options. Click "Recovery."

    • 2). Click the "Advanced Recovery Options" link. If you have a hard disk partition back-up on a DVD or external hard drive, connect the drive or insert the DVD into the disc drive.

    • 3). Click "Use a system image you created earlier to recover your computer." The next window asks if you want to create a disk back-up now. Click the "Skip" button.

    • 4). Click the "Restart" button. This restarts your computer and uses the Windows back-up files to restore the partition. If you use an internal partition back-up located on the local hard drive, click this back-up file when the recovery window appears. Otherwise, Windows uses the inserted media to restore the partition.
