How to Make a Jewelry Storage Display Roll
- 1). Cut both the lining and outer fabrics into 9-inch-by-12 inch rectangles. Use an iron to fuse the fleece to the lining fabric according to the manufacturer's instructions. Fuse the heavyweight interfacing to the outer fabric.
- 2). Mark the strip of vinyl in thirds. Place the vinyl on one 9-inch end of your jewelry-roll lining fabric. Make a 1/2-inch pleat at each marked point. Stitch vertical lines between the pleats to form pockets. Stitch around the vinyl, 1/4 inch from the edge of the fabric. You will have overhanging vinyl. Trim this away, even with your fabric.
- 3). Cut two 4- to 5-inch lengths of elastic. Stitch down each end of the elastic strips on the upper portion of the jewelry-roll lining. Stitch several vertical lines on each strip, dividing the elastic into small compartments. You will use these strips to hang necklaces.
- 4). Sandwich the lining and the outer jewelry-roll fabrics wrong sides together. Pin. Fold the narrow ribbon so that one end is 10 inches longer than the other. Baste into place along the 9 inch edge opposite the vinyl pockets.
- 5). Fold the bias tape over the edge of your jewelry-storage roll. The narrow side of the tape should be on the outer side of the jewelry-display roll. Working slowly and carefully with a short stitch length, sew the bias tape into place in one step.
- 6). Roll your jewelry storage roll into thirds beginning with the vinyl pockets and working toward the ribbon. Wrap the ribbon around the jewelry-display roll and tie.
