How to Replace a Drive Belt on a Hoover Vacuum Cleaner
- 1). Unplug the Hoover vacuum cleaner from the wall and turn the unit upside down so you are looking at the bottom cover.
- 2). Turn the keeper tabs on the vacuum that are holding the bottom cover plate in place and remove the plate.
- 3). Remove the existing vacuum drive belt from the central drive pin and lift the brush roller out of the vacuum housing.
- 4). Place the new belt around the brush roller and set the roller into the vacuum housing. Stretch out the new belt and put it around the central drive pin.
- 5). Reattach the bottom cover plate by sliding the tabs under the retaining hooks and then turning the keeper tabs to lock it in place.
- 6). Turn the vacuum upright and plug the cord back into the electrical outlet. Turn the vacuum on and test it to verify that it is working properly.
