How to Troubleshoot Laptop Screen Problems
- 1). Increase the brightness of the display if the display dims when remove the laptop from AC power. Difficult-to-see screens in sunlight can also be helped by doing this. Look for the brightness button. It's usually a dot icon with smaller dots around it. Often on laptops, buttons perform two functions to save space. You may have to press the button marked "Fn" and then at the same time press the corresponding brightness button. It's "F7" on many laptops.
- 2). Reduce the brightness of the display if you don't need it that bight and you are finding battery life is being reduced. A bright screen uses more power than a dim one and if you are not on AC, reducing screen brightness will help with power usage. Again, you may need to press the "Fn" button and then the brightness reduction button---look for the dot icons and a down arrow. It's the F8 button on many laptops.
- 3). Disconnect any external, second-display, laptop screens if you run into screen freezes when playing games that have especially concentrated graphics. Try the game again on the built-in laptop screen and see if the animation works normally.
