    • 1). Open the hood for access to the fuse panel behind the battery. Open the fuse panel by pulling the lid off the panel by hand. Locate the fuel pump fuse and disconnect it by pulling it out of the fuse panel by hand.

    • 2). Start the car and allow it to idle until the car stalls out. Turn the ignition to the off position. Insert the fuse back in to the fuse panel.

    • 3). Locate the fuel filter by the rear wheel under the car. The fuel filter is a silver-colored cannister installed to the fuel lines.

    • 4). Pull the inlet and outlet lines off by pulling the tabs on the fuel lines to unlock it from the filter. Pull away from the filter.

    • 5). Unbolt the mounting bracket holding the filter in place with a socket wrench. Pull the filter away from the Buick.

    • 6). Mount the new filter to the car with a socket wrench. Ensure the arrow on the filter is pointing toward the front of the car for the filter to work adequately.

    • 7). Push the fuel lines onto the filter. The lines will lock in place once pushed on far enough.

    • 8). Turn the ignition to start the car. The car may not start right away as there is air in the fuel lines. Turn the key and hold it in the start position before attempting to crank to prime the fuel pump. The pump will run for three seconds. Turn the key to start the car after letting the pump prime.

    • 9). Allow the car to idle for five minutes. Inspect around the fuel filter for any leaking fuel.
