It could be overwhelming just looking at a grand piano with its 81 keys.
However don't let this stop you to learn piano keys which believe it or not is quite easy.
Haven't touched a piano before? Have you developed a late interest to playing this instrument? No matter, you can still teach yourself to read the keys which is very simple, easy and fun.
First familiarize yourself with the letters associated with this instrument's keyboard which are C, D, E, F, G, A and B.
these represent notes.
You notice on the keyboard that there is a sequence of black keys over white ones.
Every three white keys below two black ones are read C, D and E.
below every three black keys are four white ones that are read as F, G, A and B.
Take note that the whites representing C, D, E, F, G, A and B are simply repeated throughout the instrument's keyboard.
Now you got the white keys, but how about the black ones? These indicate notes in sharps (#) and flats (b).
For example you hit on a C note and follow on a black key, you have a C# note which is also called a half step.
From a C note you hit a D, this is called a whole step.
From a D note you move back and hit a black key, you get a D flat note.
One cannot learn piano keys by simply reading an article however.
You may need to look for a teacher to properly instruct you or self teach by searching for competent lessons offered online.
