    • 1). Open the hood of your Beetle.

    • 2). Open the cap of your power steering fluid reservoir using a coin. Your power steering fluid reservoir has a green lid on it and is to the right of your battery. You will need to insert the coin into the slot of the top of the lid to turn it and remove it.

    • 3). Pull out the lid and use the paper towel to wipe the fluid off the dipstick that is attached to the lid.

    • 4). Replace the cap into the power steering reservoir and then pull it out again to get an accurate reading on the dipstick of how much fluid is still in your car.

    • 5). Look at the dipstick. There should be two markings on the stick, "Low" and "High." If your power steering fluid is close to the low side, slowly add power steering fluid, checking the level periodically until it is to the high side.
