How to Grow Mountain Laurels From Seed
- 1). Spread a paper towel on a flat surface and place five to 10 mountain laurel seeds on it. Pick one seed up between the fingers of one hand, and gently file it with an emery board nail file. When you see the seed change color, stop filing. Repeat the process to file down each of the remaining seeds.
- 2). Fill a bowl with tap water and place all of the mountain laurel seeds into it. Allow the seeds to soak for 24 hours.
- 3). Locate an outdoor area that has well-draining soil and is dark in color, indicating an abundance of organic matter. The mountain laurel requires full to partial shade.
- 4). Dig a hole 1 inch deep and insert one mountain laurel seed into it before filling it back in. Plant at least five to six more seeds in the same manner, spacing them at 12-inch intervals.
- 5). Water the location until it is wet to a 1-inch depth. Afterward, water once per week if no rainfall occurs.
