DIY Flower Pot Benches
- 1). Measure and cut eight 12-inch pieces from the 2-by-4-inch cedar boards to serve as the legs and braces. Cut 6 inches off the 8-foot-long, 1-by-4 cedar board. For an 8-foot-long bench, no other cuts are necessary.
- 2). Assemble four of the 12-inch-long pieces of cedar board into a rectangle. Place the 12-inch-long pieces on their long, narrow edges on a flat work surface with two of the 12-inch-long pieces laid parallel to each other and the other two 12-inch-long pieces placed between them. These are one set of legs to support one side of the flowerpot bench.
- 3). Secure the rectangle together by inserting two 1 1/2-inch wood screws at each corner. Repeat the process to create a second pair of legs.
- 4). Stand both pairs of legs on their 12-inch ends aligned with each other and 7 1/2 feet apart. One side of a pair of legs is 12 inches wide and the other side is 15 inches wide.
- 5). Span the top of the legs with two 1-by-6 cedar boards. Align the outer edges of the boards with the outer edges of the legs. Secure each of the top boards to the pairs of legs with two 1 1/2-inch wood screws on either end.
- 6). Place the 1-by-4 cedar board so that it lays across the bottom of both leg pairs. Insert two 1 1/2-inch wood screws on either end.
