    Wood Chair

    • You can clean wooden dining chairs with the sanding attachment of the Dremel tool. After wiping the surface clean, sand the damaged lacquer off the chair using the sandpaper attachment. Use smaller attachments to sand crooks and corners in the chair. Refinish the chair with lacquer or other varnish.

    Sharpening Blades

    • Attach a sharpening tool to the Dremel to sharpen your lawn mower or chain saw blades. Sharpening chain saw blades requires an additional guide attachment. Begin with rough grit to remove dings along the blade. Replace the attachment head with finer grit to produce a finished edge. The Dremel tool is especially useful for sharpening the small teeth of a chain saw.

    Pumpkin Carving

    • Dremel tools are useful for craft projects like pumpkin carving. Choose from one of several carving attachments or buy the Dremel pumpkin carving kit. Cut a hole in the top of the pumpkin and remove the seeds and loose material from the inside. Once the pumpkin is empty you can begin carving decorative shapes on its side.

    Fishing Lures

    • Dremel sells several types of metal cutters for metal crafts like fishing lures. You can make spinner lures from old spoons in your kitchen drawer. Dremel suggests using its tungsten carbide cutter to drill two holes, one in each end of the spoon head. Next, cut the handle of the spoon, using a cutting wheel attachment. Replace the cutting wheel with a grinding attachment and smooth the spoon's edges. Dremel sells polishing heads, but you can use any metal polishing cloth to add shine to the concave side of the spoon head. Paint the convex side with auto body touch-up paint. Red, with a white, center strip is a common pattern for spinning lures. Attach a swivel to the wide end of the spoon head and a hook to the narrow end.

    Car Battery

    • Corroded car batteries affect a vehicle's performance. A Dremel tool will clean the battery connections. First, remove the cable clamps from the battery, beginning with the negative (black) clamp and then the positive (red) clamp. Loosen the battery holder and put the battery on the ground. Baking soda and water is a safe and effective solvent for cleaning a battery. Scrub the entire top of the battery with a brush and solvent. Use the Dremel tool with a brass brush attachment to clean the clamps in the car and nodes on the battery. Replace the battery and reconnect the clamps securely, starting with the positive clamp, then the negative clamp.
