How to Plant a Globe Blue Spruce
- 1). Amend the soil in the planting area so that it drains well, if necessary. To heavy, clay soil you can add coarse sand or shredded bark. Three inches of the material mixed to a depth of 6 inches helps speed up drainage.
- 2). Dig the planting hole twice the width of the globe blue spruce's rootball and deep enough so that it sits at the same depth as it is in the nursery pot.
- 3). Place the blue globe's roots in the hole and fill the hole halfway with soil. Run water into the hole to settle the soil around the roots. When it drains, continue filling the hole with soil.
- 4). Water to a depth of 10 inches and keep the soil moist until the plant produces new growth.
