Bankruptcy? Don"t Even Think About It! Listen to the Presettlement Funding Companies
There are certain ways to take care of it, and some are much better than others.
You can't just stand on a chair in the middle of your office and shout, "I declare bankruptcy!" like Mr.
Michael Scott from the show, the Office.
Hopefully you never even get to the point that that statement would even be relevant for you, but if it is you need to make sure that declaring bankruptcy is the best thing for you to do.
Chances are, it's not.
Let's say you are overwhelmed with outstanding bills, credit card debt and you are so far behind on your rent or mortgage that the bank or the landlord will soon throw you out of your house or apartment.
Are you thinking about just declaring bankruptcy and be done with all these debts? Be careful.
It could be a huge mistake.
Remember, you have been hurt in an accident and you have a pending lawsuit.
Your lawyer is going to try to recover as much money as he can for you because that is his job and the more you get paid, the more he gets paid.
Your settlement money very well may solve all of your financial problems when, or if you actually get it.
But, and it's a big but, if you declare bankruptcy your creditors will probably try to take part or all of your settlement leaving little or nothing for you.
This might leave you back at square one, in the same financial situation that you were in to begin with.
You are the one who was hurt in the accident and the settlement money after various fees should go to you.
You are the one who suffered.
Don't let the creditors take that money from you.
If you declare bankruptcy, they might be able to do just that.
And, most likely they will probably try.
Even if you have overwhelming debts, it is better to work and negotiate with your creditors.
Pre Settlement Funding companies have offered helpful hints for plaintiffs.
Listen to them.
Bankruptcy could be a huge mistake, which would be even more painful of a problem to deal with having just gone through a timely and burdensome lawsuit for so long.
Its better not to even think about bankruptcy, so don't do it!
