    • 1). Turn up the external volume knobs on your computer's speakers. Make sure that there's sound coming out of both speakers. If not, one of the speakers may have blown out, resulting in quieter overall sound. You'll have to replace it if this is the case.

    • 2). Open the volume control or volume mixer application by right-clicking the speaker icon in the bottom right-hand corner of your computer screen or by clicking "Start>All Programs>Accessories>Entertainment>Volume Control." Make sure the "Master Volume" is turned all the way up.

    • 3). Click "Options>Properties" in the volume control application and make sure the "WAV Volume" control option is checked. Turn the "WAV Volume" option up to increase your volume during playback.

    • 4). Check your DVD player application or MP3 player application to see if there's a volume control option located somewhere in the window. Many times, a small speaker next to a bar will be an indication of volume control. Turn this up to increase volume during playback.
