    First Steps

    • 1). Check your ice bucket. If it is not inserted properly, then the sensor beam may be blocked and cause the ice maker not to cycle.

    • 2). Check that the ice maker shutoff arm has not been triggered. Usually ice makers are turned off by lifting the arm up.

    • 3). Turn the ice maker switch off for a few seconds. When you turn it back on, it may reset the system and cause the ice maker to cycle normally.

    • 4). Check the back of your refrigerator to see if the water hose is properly connected. If it is not, there will be no water to make ice.

    • 5). Inspect the ice maker for any broken parts. If there are, then you will need to call a repairman or replace them yourself.

Ice Trays or Mold is Not Being Refilled

    • 1). If the ice trays are not being refilled, then there is a problem in the water delivery system. Listen to see if you here the water valve being energized. If you don't, then there is a problem with the wiring or a bad valve. Call a technician to repair this problem.

    • 2). If the ice trays are not being refilled, but you hear the valve energize, then you could have a clog in the water line. Usually this occurs in the portion of the tube that extends into the freezer. Check to see if it is clogged with ice. If it is, use a hair dryer to melt the ice.

    • 3). Check the water filter. If it hasn't been changed within the last six months, it could be clogged. Take out the filter for a couple of hours and see if you get ice. Water will bypass the filter and go directly to the ice maker when this happens.

    • 1). Use a thermometer to check the temperature in your freezer. It should be below 14 degrees Fahrenheit. If it is higher, try adjusting the thermostat on the freezer.

    • 2). Make sure that there is good water flow from the water line that is attached to the back of the fridge. The tubing may need to be cleaned or replaced.

    • 3). Make sure that the ice maker mold thermostat is cycling properly.

    • 4). Another problem that can reduce your ice cubes is the water-inlet valve. Try replacing this and see if it fixes the problem.

    Other Problems

    • 1). If you find dark specks in your ice cubes, then the protective coating on your ice cube tray might be peeling away. If this happens, the best solution is to replace the ice maker.

    • 2). If the ice maker is make frozen cubes but not ejecting them, then it is most likely a problem with the mechanical module of your ice maker.

    • 3). If the ice tastes bad, then clean your fridge and freezer thoroughly and replace the filter. If your ice maker doesn't have a filter, then you may want to add a supply line filter.
