Unleash the Songwriter With Loops
Sometimes as songwriters, we get stuck in a rut, or we write a beautiful guitar/piano line and it just lies there flat, because it's just missing something.
Now what? I have a buddy, that is a killer musician, but he's tied up.
OR if your like a bunch of us, your musical group of friends is sparse.
Insert the perfectly in time, and always there for you friend...
The loop.
Loops are no longer reserved for just Hip Hop songs.
Technology has evolved such, that you can now use loops that are professionally recorded studio musicians, and honestly, people you could only dream to play with.
The best thing about loops is they can easily be altered with today's recording programs, to meet your needs of Key change, tempo, and mixing and matching to create a totally unique song, and most out there are Royalty free.
As songwriter's what we often need is a spark.
We have a direction in our head, and we just need a little flame to ignite the fire.
Loops provide a great resource for today's song writers.
Not everyone plays an instrument, and most only play one.
I can't tell you how many times I have written a song, that I would love to have drums on.
Let alone, a cool piano riff or heck even a slide guitar.
The point is, a strategically placed loop can open up your songs, in a direction that you didn't see coming.
They make your songs fuller, and when mixed properly...
more professional.
There are some really cool websites out there, that are royalty free, like Pianoloops.
com and Freecountryloops.
com, that offer a ton of free downloads.
I also use software like EZ Keys and Ez Drummer, and have even found inspiration with a site called Jamstudio.
What these programs and Loops offer, are inspiration.
They help drag you out of the writer's block, and into a new direction.
Whether you play an instrument or not, having other musicians and songwriter's around is not always a luxury we have.
When you get into specialty instruments like dobro, harmonica, and the list goes on, it becomes even more difficult.
We haven't even discussed the non-players and vocalists out there.
All in all, Loops can be your friend.
So pick up your instrument, crank on a loop and I promise you, as a fellow songwriter, you will be amazed at what you are able to create.
Even if you don't use them in your final product, the loops will spark your music in a new direction.
