Instructions for How to Replace the Modem in the eMachines T4852
- 1). Shut down your eMachines computer. Disconnect the main power cable and any external devices. Relocate the computer to a sturdy work surface.
- 2). Attach an antistatic wrist strap to your wrist to prevent electrical damage to the motherboard while working on your computer. Rotate the computer so the back panel is facing you.
- 3). Remove the two Phillips-head thumb screws from the computer's back panel. These screws fasten the right-side access panel in place. Slide the side panel off of the computer to reveal the computer's internal components.
- 4). Lay the computer tower horizontally on its left side so the computer's opening is facing up. Locate the modem PCI card mounted to the computer's back panel.
- 5). Unscrew the single Phillips-head screw mounting the modem card to the computer's back panel. Lift straight up on the card until it disconnects from the PCI connector on the motherboard. Remove the modem from the computer.
- 6). Reverse this procedure to install the new modem and put your computer back together.
