How to Fix a Lexmark Printer Cartridge
- 1). Perform a computer-operated cleaning cycle. This removes clogs in the printer cartridge nozzle and printer head. Select your Lexmark printer icon from the Control Panel or system tray on your computer. Choose the "Printer" and "Preferences" option from the dialogue box. Click on the maintenance tab and then select the "Clean Print Head" option. Repeat this step two or three times if necessary.
- 2). Open the Lexmark printer's access panel and remove the cartridge from the carrier. Insert the refill syringe into the cartridge hole and push air through the cartridge to dislodge dried or clotted up ink.
- 3). Remove ink from the cartridge by inserting the syringe into it and drawing the ink up from the cartridge chamber.
- 4). Set the cartridge into a bin filled with lukewarm water until you see the ink begin to run out of the nozzle on the cartridge. This is to loosen the ink clog inside the nozzle and open the valve so the cartridge prints properly.
- 5). Refill the cartridge if necessary by adding more ink with the syringe.
