• All of the cameras in Canon's ELPH line, including the SD1100 IS, are extremely compact. Created so that they are small enough to easily fit in a pocket or purse, the PowerShot SD1100 is 3.42 by 2.16 by 0.87 inches and weighs 4.41 onces, making it exceptionally lightweight and portable.
  
  

Built-In Shooting Modes

• The Canon SD1100 IS has a variety of shooting modes built in to make it easier to take photos in difficult situations. When activated, a shooting mode will automatically adjust the camera's shutter speed, ISO and other controls to be optimal for that particular situation. Included shooting modes on the SD1100 include snow, sunset, beach, night and macro.
  
  

Auto Focus

• The Canon SD1100 IS, much like all of the other cameras in the ELPH line, has a built-in auto focus. The auto focus is activated by simply pressing the shutter button down halfway. Once the camera has focused on a subject, you can fully press the shutter button to capture a picture.
  
  

Viewfinder

• The SD1100 has a traditional viewfinder you can use for framing photos, as well as an LCD screen. The LCD screen uses a tremendous amount of battery power to operate. Having a traditional viewfinder can enable you to power off the LCD screen and conserve battery power in situations where you want to take lots of pictures or you might not be able to charge the camera.
