How to Plug a Power Surge Protector Into a Grounding Adapter

    • 1). Unscrew the retaining screw on the wall socket faceplate. Do not take the faceplate from the socket.

    • 2). Push the grounding adapter into the wall socket. Push the "pigtail" on the grounding adapter -- a small metal bar sticking out form the adapter -- into the faceplate hole where the screw was removed. Screw the faceplate screw through the pigtail and the faceplate providing the adapter with the ground connection and securing the faceplate to the wall.

    • 3). Connect the power surge protector plug to the grounding adapter and turn the surge protector on. Plug in the electronic devices to the power surge protector.
