I Want Roof Blinds in My Wooden Conservatory - Is This Possible?

Here is one of the most frequently asked questions we get from our clients: We've got a wooden conservatory, is that a problem? Wooden conservatories do bring up a whole raft of issues we need to be aware of when considering roof blinds.
Although we find these days most conservatories are made of UPVC wood is used on very high conservatories, particularly popular on lean and 'home made DIY conservatories.
Why should wood be an issue though? Well, firstly wood can warp, and when used in long lengths (as often found in lean to types) this can create a problem.
A typical roof rafter can twist and warp a full 12mm over a 3-metre length.
This would make fitting of Perfect Fit blinds impossible.
Perfect Fit blinds need to be measured very accurately and this relies on surfaces being straight, square and stable! Also do bear in mind that Perfect Fit blinds are clip in blinds utilising clips that push into the roof.
We need to ensure that we can push these into the rubber seal between the rafter and the glass.
This is where problem number 2 can usually arises, for often the wooden conservatory does not have a rubber seal between the rafter and the glass.
This is often a particular problem with older wooden conservatories.
In a UPVC build it is very easy to see that black membrane running around the glass pane as it contrasts between the glass and the white (or brown) UPVC.
With wood this is often just not there, however if yours has let us know! So if you have a wooden conservatory can you do anything? Yes you can! But not with Perfect Fit, you will have to resort to traditional pleated blinds, which WILL need holes to be drilled to fit them.
Can we help you with traditional blinds? Yes.
That's why you will note on our website it there is a facility to tell us if you conservatory is made of wood as we will need to address this type of build in a different way.
I hope that that is useful for you in your search to make you conservatory into what you desire.
We'll leave you with that question - if you need any further assistance contact us.
