How to Install Memory Into a Dell Inspiron B130
- 1). Turn off your laptop. Unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet. Disconnect the power cord and any attached peripheral devices. Remove any installed PC cards.
- 2). Flip the laptop over and locate the battery-bay latch release and latch release lock near the back edge. Slide the latch release lock and hold it in place while you slide the latch release; remove the battery. Ground the system board by pressing the power button.
- 3). Locate the memory module cover on the bottom of the laptop, near the front edge. Unscrew the screws securing the cover in place. Remove the cover.
- 4). Ground yourself by touching one of the metal surfaces on the back of your laptop. If necessary, remove the existing memory module by pressing apart the tabs at each end and lifting the module out.
- 5). Position the new memory module over the first available slot (if there is no module installed in the connector marked DIMMA, use that one). Align the notch in the memory module with the corresponding tab in the connector slot. Insert the module at a 45-degree angle and press down until it snaps into place.
- 6). Replace the memory module cover and screw into place. Reinsert the battery and return the laptop to its upright position. Reconnect the power cord and any previously-connected peripheral devices. Plug the power cord into an available electrical socket. Your computer is now ready for use.
