Record Store Day has special meaning for a lot of us whose love of classic rock was born and nurtured amongst the racks of vinyl records under the expert tutelage of the friendly, knowledgeable folks at the local record store.

From relatively humble beginnings in 2008, Record Store Day (the third Saturday in April) has grown into a virtually non-stop worldwide celebration of those small, independent record stores that still remain.

Some of the most ardent supporters of Record Store Day are classic rock artists, much of whose music was first released when vinyl was the standard medium, and the local record store was the best (sometimes only) place to discover new artists and new music.

Accordingly, some two dozen special vinyl editions will be released on April 16 - Record Store Day 2011.
