    • 1). Place the PVC pipe vertically on a table. Measure 5 inches up from the bottom of the PVC on the left and right sides. Mark these measurements with a pencil.

    • 2). Place each end of the rubber band against the dots on the sides of the PVC pipe. Wrap duct tape loosely around the PVC pipe so that the ends of the rubber band are covered.

    • 3). Apply duct tape tightly around the PVC pipe.

    • 4). Sharpen one end of the wooden chopstick with the blade of the utility knife. Sand the sharpened end with the sandpaper.

    • 5). Go outside in your backyard. Hold the PVC pipe in one hand with the end closest to the rubber band look facing you. Hold the wooden chopstick in the other hand.

    • 6). Insert the unsharpened end of the wooden chopstick into the far end of the PVC pipe. Push the wooden chopstick through the PVC pipe until the unsharpened end butts up against the loop of the rubber band.

    • 7). Grab hold of the unsharpened end of the wooden chopstick and the loop of the rubber band with the thumb and index finger of your free hand.

    • 8). Aim the rubber band-powered speargun you have made at a tree or rock. Pull back on the wooden chopstick and the rubber band with the free hand. Release the wooden chopstick and the rubber band to fire the spear from your rubber band-powered speargun at your target.
