How to Replace Motorcycle Fenders

    • 1). Push the bike up on a pair of wheel chocks to stabilize it. Then slide a jack under the motorcycle and lift the bike about 4 inches, until the tires are off the ground. Be sure the bike is level and stabilized on the jack.

    • 2). Remove any saddlebags, reflectors or other hardware and options that are in the way of the fender. Most saddle bags can be removed by undoing the leather straps and bolt hardware on the bags.

    • 3). Remove the shock bolts on the motorcycle shocks to lower the wheel from the fender to lower the wheel from the fender.

    • 4). Loosen the two bolts, securing the fender to the shock forks. Carefully slide the bolts from the mounting harness as you hold the fender with one hand. Then, using a Phillips-head screwdriver or ratchet wrench, remove the hardware from additional braces specific to your bike.

    • 5). Work the fender back and forth as you remove the final mounting bolt until you are able to slide the fender off the forks and pull it forward through them to remove it.
