Wireless Network Router Problems
- Confirm your cables are properly seated.ethernet image by sumos from Fotolia.com
The wireless router must be connected via an Ethernet RJ-45 cable to your DSL or cable modem. Confirm that it is plugged in to the WAN port on the back of the router, and not one of the numbered ports. - Reboot your router and your modem.Power Pack image by Cinneman from Fotolia.com
An inability to connect to a wireless router can often be remedied by simply powering down both your modem and your router. Wait 45 seconds, power on the modem, wait another 45 seconds and then power on the router. - Check that your network is working properly.wireless home network image by jaddingt from Fotolia.com
Confirm that you indeed are connected to the correct network and not another wireless network that happens to be within range. Connecting to the wrong network will hinder your email, printing and file-sharing capabilities. - Don't forget to check your computer's settings.Woman with laptop image by huaxiadragon from Fotolia.com
Be certain that you're entering your password correctly. Also check your connection to the network (see Resources below) to confirm your computer is properly configured.
