How to Clean a Canon Inkjet
- 1). Turn off the printer and remove all connections, including the power cord. Remove the printer's parallel port cover by inserting a flathead screwdriver in the slot at the bottom of the cover and prying it open.
- 2). Reach inside the printer and loosen the two tabs in the front of the cover, then loosen the two tabs in the back of the cover. Pull the cover up to remove it from the printer.
- 3). Remove the bottom cover by unscrewing the four screws that hold it to the internal parts. Lift the printer out of the bottom cover.
- 1). Clean out any paper dust or small pieces of paper using a can of compressed air. Move the printer to a well-ventilated area and put on waterproof gloves.
- 2). Remove the waste ink pads and place them in a disposable liquid-tight container. Flush the bottom case of the printer out with the cleaning solution and running hot water.
- 3). Wash the waste ink pads with the cleaning solution and running hot water until little to no ink flushes out of the pads. Turn the water off and gently squeeze the pads until no water comes out.
- 4). Place the pads in a sunny, dry location for several days until they completely dry out. Clean out any ink accumulations inside the printer with cotton swabs.
