How to Troubleshoot a Maytag MDB 5100AWB
- 1). Look to see if the Maytag dishwasher is plugged into a working power supply and is turned "On" if the dishwasher is not working. Reset circuit breakers or fuses if necessary.
- 2). Open and shut the dishwasher door firmly if the device will not fill with water. Ensure that a cycle has been selected and the "Start" button is pushed in order for the cycle to begin. Look at the inlet hose for kinks or possible obstructions.
- 3). Ensure the drain hose is raised at least 32 inches if the dishwasher will not drain. This prevents water from draining back into the dishwasher. Look at the drain in the bottom of the dishwasher tub for possible obstructions and clean if necessary.
- 4). Avoid overfilling the dishwasher if the dishwasher is overly noisy during use. Ensure the dishwasher is installed on a stable, level surface. Place a piece of plywood under the dishwasher if necessary.
- 5). Place 2 tbsp. baking soda in both sides of the detergent cup and select a "Light Wash" cycle if there is a strong odor in the dishwasher. Let the cycle run for 10 minutes and then press "Stop/Cancel." Open the dishwasher door and let stand ajar overnight. Close the door and restart the cycle the next morning and allow the cycle to complete.
