Signs & Symptoms of Hard Drive Problems
- When a hard drive is faulty, information stored on it may began to disappear. You may not be able to find specific files that were saved. Or, you may notice that groups of files are deleted. This may be a result of damage to areas of the hard drive where those files were stored.
- Your computer may respond slowly if the hard drive is damaged. There may be a delay when you try to open or save files, and some files may not open at all after several attempts.
- The hard drive may produce scratching sounds when you turn on the computer or initiate commands. You may receive an error message, indicating that the hard dive cannot be located. Also, the computer screen may stall or freeze frequently.
