7 Key Foods to Burn Fat on a Budget
Hi, Joe " the Nutrition Pro" here.
Every so often I will post a question that someone has asked me in regards to fat loss. These questions will either come from e-mails or from one of my social media channels like facebook , YouTube or Twitter. Recently, someone on my facebook asked me a question that I thought would make an interesting blog post.
If you can't make out what it says:
"Hey Joe Pro! I am a college student on a tight budget, but I still want to be able to maintain a healthy diet. What kinds of food would you recommend for me to eat?"
Here is the answer to Lauren's question. It can help anyone that is in a similar situation as she is. I am going to limit it down to 6 foods that you can survive on when you are on a tight budget.
Starting with Food #1
Eggs
Why?
Eggs are the most inexpensive form of protein--you can buy a dozen for $2-3. Each egg has 6 grams of protein and you can cook them in numerous ways .
Food #2
Broccoli
Why?
Broccoli costs $1-2 per lb. Not to mention, broccoli is the king of low-carb vegetables. Broccoli also contains more vitamin C than an orange.
Food #3
Brown Rice
Why?
Brown rice costs $1 per pound, and can last you about a week. It has many healthy complex carbohydrates for a very low price.
Food #4
Blueberries
Why?
Not only are they $2- 3 a pint, but blueberries also possess anti-inflammatory properties, help with the absorption of vitamins and in some instances discourage your body from suffering from allergic reactions. Blueberries are also a rich source of vitamins and minerals.
Food#5
Chicken Breasts
Why?
Chicken breasts cost $1.50-5 a lb. Chicken breasts are the best source of lean protein to get your necessary amino acids for fat loss.
Food #6
Almonds
Why?
Almonds might not be the cheapest snack, but you do need to get healthy unsaturated fats in your daily diet. Almonds contain potassium, calcium, iron, selenium, zinc, phosphor, copper, and omega 6 fatty acids which are necessary for a healthy central nervous system. Potassium helps you maintain a healthy heart and is good for your muscles. The vitamins and minerals found in almonds strengthen your immune system and give you natural energy.
