How to Keep Mice Out of My Stored Car
- 1). Place some mothballs in the trunk. Put more mothballs on the floor mats inside the car. Mice don't like the smell of mothballs.
- 2). Place packets of mouse/rat poison inside your car and in the trunk. Ensure they are not accessible to pets or other animals because the poison does not discriminate.
- 3). Lay dryer sheets throughout the interior of the car and in the trunk. Place them under the hood and on all four tires. Stick a couple in the exhaust pipe. Mice hate the smell of the dryer sheets. Remember to remove all the dryer sheets before starting the car.
- 4). Buy some sulfur at the garden store. Find an old pillowcase and cut 8-inch by 8-inch squares from the material. Put a spoonful of sulfur in the center of the square. Gather the four corners together so it resembles a small bag. Tie the bag closed with some sting. Place the bags throughout the vehicle.
- 5). Place a wad of steel wool into the exhaust pipe. Mice cannot chew through steel wool.
- 6). Buy a large piece of heavy gauge plastic. Drive your vehicle onto the plastic. Pull up the plastic to cover the sides, front and rear of your vehicle. Tape the plastic onto the door handles and any other non-painted surface to keep the plastic from falling down. Do not put tape onto the paint or you may remove the paint along with the tape.
