How to Dress Like a Sexy Pirate

    • 1). Decide what type of pirate costume best suits your sense of style. You can choose from mildly seductive and saucy to outright skimpy. For those who would like to show the maximum amount of skin, choose a costume with a bikini, bralette or cropped style top with a short skirt or spandex pirate booty shorts. Less flashy styles include corset style dresses with frilly skirts, lace up halter dresses and dresses with laced waist cinchers. For the more modest lady, pirate options include long pants, gauchos, peasant blouses, lace up vests and knee length skirts.

    • 2). Search for and buy a pirate costume at a local costume store or party store. It is important to be able to try on different costumes to see what style fits the best and flatters your body. If you will only need the outfit for one special event, consider renting it from a store that offers costume rentals. However, if the sexy pirate costume is something that you plan to wear more than once, buying a costume makes the most sense, especially since the dress can be altered, if necessary.

    • 3). Shop for fun accessories to go with your pirate costume. Accouterments, such as plastic knives, a hook hand, an eye patch and a hat or bandanna, will help to complete the look and give you an authentic pirate appearance. These items can often be found at costume shops, but are also readily available at party stores and even many dollar stores during the Halloween season.

    • 4). Obtain the right shoes and tights to match with your pirate outfit. Fishnet tights are ideal for just about any sexy pirate costume. Depending on the style of your outfit, the shoes can be anything from coordinating high heels to patent leather stiletto boots and platform shoes. If you would prefer not to wear heels, consider purchasing matching flats with over sized buckles or even black or brown boots that fold over at the top.

    • 5). Select a hairstyle that will work well with the pirate look. Popular hair styles to go with pirate costumes include long and straight, loose waves or curls and jaunty pixie cuts. If you would like to radically alter your hairdo or hair color to go with your pirate outfit, consider wearing clip in hair extensions or a wig.
