How to Do Wood Molding
- 1). Insert the molding bit into the router table. Adjust the height of the bit and the fence so that it will cut the profile of the bit into a 1-by-2-inch board.
- 2). Place the board onto the table of the router with the 1-by-96-inch side flat against the table and the 2-by-96-inch side flat against the fence.
- 3). Guide the board through the router in a steady motion just fast enough to allow the blade to cut the wood. Remove the board from the router table once the cut is completed.
- 4). Sand the routed side of the board with a 120-grit sanding pad until the surface is smooth. Rout some extra board so that you will have some left over to allow for mistakes or repairs.
