I found out about this campground on the KOA Web site, and I RV camped there in August 2007.

Describe your camping trip:

We enjoyed this small quiet campground. We have a popup with slides and camp with our dogs and our teenage daughter. It is only about an hour from our house, and we just went for the weekend. They had a very small catch and release pond, and they are on the Neuse River.

So you can fish with a license, and they also have boat docks.

Pros: They had two barkparks, where the dogs could run without a leash. Very nice people. Extremely clean and well kept sites. We happened to be there for customer appreciation weekend. They had food and a band. Very nice weekend over all.

Cons: The sites are nice but kind of small, and if you are traveling with teens there isn't much for them to do. Small pool and small playground, so it would be better suited for younger children or couples traveling with out children. Also be prepared for an early morning train crossing not too far away.

Nearby attractions: Downtown New Bern, which is right across the river, has historic sights and shopping.

Further comments:

Overall it was a wonderful place for a weekend out. We enjoyed it. The same people also own two other KOA parks in NC. They offer nice coupons on their Web site that work for any of the campgounds.
