Stanley Green was born in Tottenham in 1915, the son of a clerk. After his mother's death in 1967 Stanley began his campaign against eating protein. He traveled to Oxford Street every day from his council flat in Ealing to spread the word about 'Protein Wisdom'. He believed that too much protein caused uncontrollable sexual passions, disorder and unhappiness. 'Protein Man' became a famous London sight, much filmed by foreign media as an example of British eccentricity.
