Do you ever feel hungry after a meal? Ever feel that you are constantly snacking? Constantly hungry? Well this could be because of your eating habits.
And these eating habits are leading you down a tough road, that of hunger.
Hunger is one of man's most important innate traits.
Yet, it is also fragile and can be easily abused.
There are a number of reasons why you are not getting full.
They range from your nutrition, to your daily activities.
I would like to shed light on a few, and provide some help.
Did you know that it takes a typical person around fifteen minutes to eat a meal, yet your stomach takes TWENTY minutes to tell your brain that it is full! This means that after a good meal, one that should typically fill you up, there is a good chance you will still be hungry and inclined to ask for more portions! Are you a rabid sugar consumer? Are you addicted to soda (diet or regular) and other sweet or sugary foods? Or maybe you just love fast food? If you associate any of these attributes to you, then you now know why you're always craving.
Products which lack in nutritional value are not going to fill you up.
Your body will derive no nutritional benefit from these foods, and your cells will not be energized sufficiently.
Your body will therefore crave more food even if you ate a large amount of calories The fact is the empty calories still leave your body craving more nutrition, and thereby making you hungry, even if you already ate a lot.
When you get home from work, what do you do? On your day off, on a Sunday, what do you find yourself doing? Are you bored, always looking for something to do? Studies have shown that boredom increases your food intake.
When you are bored you will unconsciously roam to the kitchen.
Do you wake up and eat breakfast every morning? If not, you should start.
Research has shown that eating a healthy high protein breakfast can curb appetite throughout the whole day.
A big healthy breakfast with ample protein and healthy fats will lead to smaller rises in blood sugar and insulin throughout the day.
Hence, you will be less hungry and eat less calories overall We see here, that the key to your hunger might not come from the amount that you eat, rather from what you are eating, and what you are doing! Skip the soda, grab a water.
Dehydration causes hunger, so before you grab a big unhealthy snack, have a glass of water.
Many times your hunger will go away after a large glass of water.
When you do sit down for a meal or a snack, take a bite, chew thoroughly, and...
STOP! Enjoy the food, there is no rush.
You body needs time to enjoy the nutrition, to take it all in and process to your brain that it got it.
Believe me, you will find that you have enjoyed the meal a lot more than if you had rushed, and you would not be surprised or disappointed when it is all finished.
Another tip is to serve yourself using smaller plates and utensils.
Research has found that those who are presented with a big bowl of ice cream, will most likely feel inclined to finish it all before they are satisfied while those with a smaller bowl will finish what they have and feel fulfilled.
Stop sitting around! Get out and be active.
Not only will you burn fat, but you will also occupy your time a lot better! To be or not to be, that is the question.
Do you want to live constantly hungry and craving, or do you want to enjoy and live fulfilled and filled with a leaner body? I would hope the latter.
So sit down, grab a salad, some healthy protein, and a glass of water.
Cheers!
