How to Replace a 2000 Infiniti Starter
- 1). Open the engine compartment and disconnect the negative battery terminal using a wrench to loosen the nut on the terminal. Place the wheel chocks behind the rear tires and then jack the car up on the passenger side.
- 2). Place a jack stand under the car near the jacking point and raise it up to the frame of the car. Crawl under the automobile from the passenger side and locate the starter on the back of the engine. It looks like a round canister with electrical wires connected to it.
- 3). Label the proper location of the wires using the marker and masking tape. Disconnect the wires using a wrench to remove the nuts and pull them away from the starter. Unplug the wiring harness by pulling it out gently by hand.
- 4). Remove both bolts from the starter using a ratchet and socket. Pull the starter away from the engine.
- 5). Put the new starter in place and tighten the bolts with the socket and ratchet. Connect the wires and tighten the nuts with a wrench, then plug in the starter wiring harness. Remove the jack stand from under the car and lower the vehicle back to the ground. Connect the battery terminal and start the car to test the starter installation.
