How to Change an Agitator Brush Belt on a Kenmore Vacuum Cleaner
- 1). Disconnect the power cord from the electrical outlet. Turn the vacuum upside down so the brush is visible and easily accessible.
- 2). Unlock the base plate by sliding the left latch toward the right and the right latch toward the left. Push the locking tabs toward the center of the vacuum to remove the base plate.
- 3). Lift each end of the brush assembly to remove. If the belt is still attached to the brush assembly, tension will be felt on the brush. Be careful when removing the brush when the belt tension is high.
- 4). Remove the end cap and washer located on each end, clear of any debris, then replace.
- 5). Loop one end of the new belt around the motor shaft. Loop the other end of the belt on the belt pulley of the brush, making sure that the belt is centered in the groove of the pulley.
- 6). Replace the base plate by inserting the tabs into the slots of the base until they snap back into place. Slide the right latch to the right and the left latch to the left for a secure hold.
