How to Replace the Throttle Position Sensor on a '94 Thunderbird
- 1). Remove the air cleaner, using a common screwdriver. Locate the throttle position sensor on the side of the throttle body. Pull the electrical connector out of the sensor. Remove the two small bolts securing the sensor, using the appropriate socket and a ratchet. Lift the sensor away from the throttle body.
- 2). Prepare to install the new throttle position sensor by paying attention to the rotating tab on the throttle body side of the sensor and the rotating tab on the throttle body. When the throttle is opened, the tab rotates in direct relation to the throttle plate. When the sensor is installed, the tab on the sensor must be on the top of the throttle body tab so that movement of the throttle will move the sensor tab correspondingly. If you install the tab under the throttle body tab, it will fail to function.
- 3). Install the throttle position sensor by inserting the bolts and tightening them down with the same socket you used to remove them. Plug in the electrical connector on the sensor and replace the air cleaner.
