How to Remove the Spare Tire on a Caravan
- 1). Open the rear liftgate of the Caravan. Locate the release lever on the storage compartment on the driver's side of the cargo area. Slide the release lever up to remove the cover.
- 2). Remove the jack, jack handle and winch handle hardware from the storage compartment. Close the rear liftgate.
- 3). Assemble the winch handle components into a "T" shape by pushing the pole pieces together. Sit in the driver's seat and insert the "T" handle over the release nut on the floorboard between the two front seats.
- 4). Turn the handle counterclockwise until the nut stops spinning. The spare tire will drop to the ground beneath the van as you turn the nut.
- 5). Reassemble the winch handle components into one straight, long bar. On one end, there will be a small hook. Use the hook to pull the tire toward you to remove it from underneath the van. Stand the tire upright, squeeze the retaining tabs on the center spacer and remove it from the rim.
