Campground Review and Description

Description:

This was our 2nd week. First week was in Pagosa Springs then came to Westcliffe to visit family. I wish I had not booked a week in advanced with this campground. We would have stayed a couple days and moved on.

Pros, Cons, Attractions and Additional Comments

Pros: Clean with good views
The owners were very rudeI can't think of a thing.
Attractions: Not applicable.

Additional Comments:Stay away! Please read. This property is for sale and the owners just want to cash out! Up front let me say we are new to the RV life style. Grape Creek was only the fourth park we've stayed in and the second on our trip to Colorado. Unlike Grape Creek the first park we stayed didn't require a deposit two months in advance and it was well run and a great experience. (Wolf Creek Run, Pagosa Springs) While booking the reservation we where assured we would have high speed internet access in the park. This is a very important point because my husband works while we are on the road. Upon arrival, we where placed on the back row, which is great because it has a wonderful view of the mountains. The young lady in the office took the remainder of our fee (We planned to stay a week) which included a Good Sam discount of 10%. We asked once again about internet access and we're told it was very strong on the row we are staying.

It wasn't until late that night that I tried the access and found we had none. Taking my iPad I walked toward the office and found within about 100 feet I had a weak signal. The next morning the manager was knocking on the door, and she explained her office help should not had given us the Good Sam discount. (Really???) By the way, they have Good Sam signs in the office. I asked about the internet access thinking maybe a repeater or router was down. She informed us there was no internet access in the park just at the office. Now, we had gone through a VERY exhaustive discussion about about this before booking the reservation. She said no one told us that. I said just last evening her office worker told us the signal was strongest on our row. She said she didn't know why she said that. I asked is there a slot closer to the office we could move too? (The park is half empty) The answer was no. At this point it was clear customer service and honesty didn't exist here. It seems they are in financial trouble and will do anything to take your money! So, I said we may need to leave to go somewhere my husband can work. She said that's fine but you'll forfeit 100% of the weeks stay you've already paid. They also advertise peace and tranquility, we've been here less than 24 hours and we have several periods of gun fire. Once just behind the office, another time while driving in his Four Runner up the road with the gun hanging out the window. They are shooting at the prairie dogs on the neighbors land. I asked if there were certain times he did his shooting and he said no. I informed him that my dog was scared of guns. Did not care. Felt very uncomfortable with this while walking the dogs or just driving down the road. Anytime there was any conversation with the owner they were rude, found out that they were this way with others as they checked in as well. Stay away.
